LEXINGTON, KY (October 30, 2024) Dylan Davis took advantage of a dark day at his base of Belmont at the Big A to travel to Finger Lakes in Farmington, New York on Monday for a mount in the track’s richest race on the richest card of the season. Then traveled back to Belmont at the Big A where on Sunday he won a stakes race on their Empire Showcase Day. For the Week, Davis posted a total of 10 wins earning Jockey of the Week for October 21-October 27 from the panel of racing experts.

Trainer George Weaver sent two-year-old gelding Bold Fortune and regular rider Dylan Davis to Finger Lakes for the New York Breeders’ Futurity. Off as the second favorite in the field of seven, Bold Fortune shot to the lead from post position three and was never seriously challenged coasting home by 7-1/2 lengths in 1:10.72 for six furlongs on the dirt.
Back at Belmont at the Big A, Davis posted one win on Thursday, a four-win day on Friday and three wins on Saturday. Sunday’s card featured eight stakes races for New York-breds.
Riding for trainer Mitchell Friedman, Davis was aboard Cara’s Time, the NYTB Champion 2-Year-Old, in the Iroquois for fillies and mares three-years-old and up. Overcoming a poor start from post position seven, Davis and Cara’s Time made up ground out of the turn and took command down the stretch holding off a furious challenge by longshot Captainsdaughter with Hall of Famer Javier Castellano aboard. Cara’s Time held on to win by a head in 1:17.13 for six and one-half furlongs.
Looking for his first Breeders’ Cup win, Davis is focused this week on his mounts at Del Mar on Breeders’ Cup Future Stars Friday. His mounts include Quickick for trainer Tom Amoss in the Gr. I $2 million Juvenile Fillies and Abientot in the Gr. I $1 million Juvenile Filles Turf for Hall of Fame trainer Mark Casse, a long-time supporter of Davis.
Davis has been the regular rider of Quickick and trainer Tom Amoss has high praise for Davis, telling the Daily Racing Form he always felt Davis “was a top rider with limited opportunity against the best jockey colony in the world. His opportunities have increased and he’s showing the racing world how good he is. We are lucky to have him for Quickick.”
Davis has been aboard Abientot for all of the filly’s five starts winning two including the Gr. III Matron.
Davis will be back at Belmont at the Big A on Saturday where he has a commanding lead in the standings.
Other contenders for Jockey of the Week included Junior Alvarado who won the Gr. III Street Sense, Hector I. Berrios who won the Gr. II Twilight Derby, Manny Franco with two stakes wins and Flavien Prat with two stakes wins including the Gr. II Mother Goose.
